Marriage is a processing of joining together of a man and a woman as a family. Every region have some form of wedding ceremony, their wedding customs are different in many ways because of different backgrounds, religions, and cultures. In other side, every nation has some different rules in marriage. However, they have same process in civil marriage ceremony. Of course, marriage is a sacred ceremony that’s hoped once all one’s life. There are many type of marriage. It’s begun from simple type until more complicated type (use custom ceremony). For example, this sundanese bridal ceremony is complicated type. Sundanese cultural riches can be visible from bridal ceremony custom too, that’s coloured by humour but doesn’t lose sacred and holy nuance. There are several programs that must be done before they go on the marriage. It’s begun from preserving word (neundeun omong), proposal (narosan), engagement (tunangan), giving some gifts (seserahan), ngaras, ngeuyeuk seureuh, religion marriage ceremony (akad nikah) and civil marriage ceremony. The steps must be done sequencely, because they are rules of the custom. Sundanese people always keep the custom as their society rules. Some moslems who have high religiousness are denying some cultural custom of marriage. They do the marriage process just the same like Muhammad SAW. as their prophet. They have an opinion that mixing culture and religion can destroy pure manners of religion and make a new belief out of their religion.
